Weekend Edition! The signs Little Richard says heaven sent him to get him to quit rockin' and start preachin' are easily explained away... or ARE they? This RHN might give you goosebumps. It will definitely give you fun rock history for the entire weekend.

My pick this morning @7:15 is from an album that my friends and I were always listening to... Ian Hunter's "You're Never Alone With A Schizophrenic" - his 4th after leaving Mott The Hoople. Guitarist Mick Ronson, most notably of Bowie's Spiders From Mars, played with Ian and came up with the album title. Ian liked it so much that he offered Mick a songwriting credit and dual lead vocals on this song in exchange for the title... not a bad deal for either of them. And the lyrics are so awesome - sung from the perspective of the guy who's trying to get the girl to believe that his motives are purely innocent... yeah, right! :) Click More to listen to "When The Daylight Comes"...

It happened, in the UK in 1967. Generally referred to as "Barbeque '67" it was the precursor to some of the later, more famous, festivals like Isle of Wight and Woodstock. Housed in a cattle auction hall on a hot, sunny day, the acoustics must have been terrible...but talk about witnessing rock history. Click through for more...

When he's not in the studio or on tour with his band, Eric Clapton loves hanging out with his wife and kids on his 157 foot, $4 million yacht, Va Bene. Those who have seen it say the first thing that strikes you upon boarding Va Bene is the calm, informal atmosphere of what is clearly a much-loved family yacht rather than a glitzy monument to success. And, after a little down time that will undoubtedly include relaxing on Va Bene, Eric will work on his new album, which he says will be all about the blues... and Larry and I were wondering, after checking out these photos... what exactly can Eric possibly have the blues about?! :) Click More to see for yourself...

This morning at 7:15 I played a song from an amazing band that never really got thier due, Badfinger... I'm tellin' ya, their tragic story needs to be made into a movie. With fans including the Beatles, in fact, Paul wrote their first song, "Come and Get It", how could they go wrong? Well, they were signed to Apple Records and there was so much turmoil within the company... and they got involved with an unscrupulous manager and things just took a downward spiral. But, even with all that drama, they did create some incredible music, including "Perfection" from their "Straight Up" album... Click More to take a listen and to hear singer/songwriter, Pete Ham, talking about the song...

You can! Well, you can try, thanks to Whitesnake drummer and Zeppelin fanatic, Brian Tichy. He's the guy who organized that huge tribute to Bonham last year, featuring a bunch of the world's greatest drummers and, all this week, he's posting videos teaching us how to play like Bonzo. The first lesson is "Rock and Roll", and he mentions that the drum beats are very similar to those we hear on Little Richard's "Keep-A-Knocking (But You Can't Come In)". Click More to hear the similarities between the two songs and to take your lesson!
